Please write out a solution to the following riddle and hand in for extra points on your Coordinate Geometry Unit Test:

There are 3 light switches in the basement that turn on 3 light bulbs in the attic. You want to find out which light switch corresponds to which light bulb. It is possible to do this with only one trip from the basement to the attic. How can this be done?

Try this problem for some extra points on our next unit test...

Somehow, the instructions get messed up. Instead of baking a round pizza, the seniors bake a square one instead. Depressed about the mistake, the dean removes a large corner large slice as shown below and eats it.

If the remaining "pie" is to be divided equally among four seniors, how would you cut the pizza so that all four get a slice of identical shape and size?

Expanding Tracks Problem

A 2 mile long railroad track is secured at both ends of the track. During the day, as the temperature rises, the rails expand 2 ft. and the track buckles upward in the middle forming an isosceles triangle. How far off the ground is the peak of the triangle? (hint: there are 5,280 ft. in one mile)

A spider has taken up residence in a small cardboard box which measures 2 inches by 4 inches by 4 inches. What is the length, in inches, of a straight spider web that will carry the spider from the lower right front corner of the box to the upper left back corner of the box?

In this class we will be looking at various types of geometry, such as solid geometry, polygons, circle geometry, coordinate geometry, and transformational geometry.
